According to Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua v Oleksandr Usyk looks like it is heading to Saudi Arabia with the likely venue being the 40,000 seater Jeddah Super Dome, Hearn stated “We are looking at July 23rd, however, this could be pushed back a week or two”
Anthony Joshua will be looking to regain the world titles he lost to Usyk at Tottenham Hotspur stadium in September last year and has teamed up with experienced trainer Robert Garcia.
In the meantime, Usyk has not long returned from supporting his fellow countryman in the war against Russia in Ukraine and to begin training to defend his belts, which he won via a convincing unanimous decision.
The location and venue chosen for the rematch, likely won’t be without controversy given Saudi Arabia’s record in regard to human rights, also the venue will not be able to replicate the atmosphere generated in a UK venue.
