The highly-anticipated undisputed match-up between self-proclaimed ‘GWOAT’ Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall has been announced for September 10 at the 02 Arena, London.
There has been plenty of needle between the pair with Claressa Shields traveling to the UK to be ringside at Savannah Marshall’s last fight to commentate for Sky Sports, and the pair have exchanged plenty of heated dialogue.
Marshall holds a win over Shields in the amateurs, prior to Shields going on to win gold at the Olympics in London, it is something Shields has said she has wanted to settle for a long time.
The good news for boxing fans is this will not be a pay-per-view event and will be part of Sky Sports’ normal coverage.
The card also boasts another great female match-up as Mikaela Mayer will face Alycia Baumgardner for the WBC, WBO, and IBF super-featherweight titles.
Sky Sport’s and its promotional outfit Boxxer look to create a historic night with an all-female card as woman’s boxing continues to gain more traction.
