Jake Paul has claimed he has single handily saved the sport of boxing during an interview with MMA hour, Paul claimed that the reason the sport is dying is that the big fights are not happening due to one party being scared to fight the other.
Speaking about a reoccurring theme of fighters wanting more money, and making excuses not to fight. Paul went on to explain that his current opponent Hasim Rahman Jr is now trying to renegotiate his contract and wants more money to fight on August 6th at Madison Square Garden, New York.
Paul stated, “They all want the money until it is time to fight me, this is why boxing was such a dying sport until I came into it and saved the whole entire sport, basically single handily, along with some other heavyweights and lightweights but mostly because of me boxing was saved.”
He then went on to criticize other fighters and promoters, “Tyson Fury’s afraid to fight Joshua, Tyson Fury’s afraid to fight Usyk, why hasn’t Gervonta (Davis) and Devin Haney fought, why hasn’t Gervonta and Ryan Garcia fought, one of the parties is scared, who knows which one, that’s why boxing is dying because these fights are not mandatory, they should force them to take these fights like they do in the UFC”
He also went on to call Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn “Two-faced”. The full interview is available on the MMA hours youtube channel below.
